Dedicated to telling impactful stories and investigating wrongdoing, Alec Rich has had a passion for journalism for over a decade. Serving as co-editor-in-chief of his student newspapers in middle school and high school began a journey that has since seen Alec work in professional newsrooms in the major markets of both New York and Washington D.C. With experience working across a variety of mediums, Alec has a diverse skillset ranging from investigative and data reporting to breaking news coverage to broadcast and audio work.
Alec is currently a reporter at Citywire RIA, where he covers the $9tn wealth management industry and financial services sector more broadly. Alec graduated from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism in May 2024, where he was a fellow at the Stabile Center for Investigative Journalism. Alec also graduated from George Washington University’s School of Media and Public Affairs in 2022 where he double-majored in journalism/mass communications and political science. Alec’s most recent professional experience was his work at NBC News in Washington D.C., where he was a bureau researcher on the national assignment desk.
Alec hails from Long Island, New York and is a devoted Mets and Knicks fan. When he is not writing and reporting, Alec enjoys listening to and making music, cooking, playing basketball and spending time with friends and family.
